April 2026 Let’s Get Dirty on the 30s Yard Tour Recap

The Vi Bates Memorial Garden at Klehm Arboretum is a demonstration garden where the Rockford community can view a wide variety of woodland wildflowers in their natural
setting. Every Spring I always offer wildflower tours in the garden.

Tour goals include discussing soil, sun, and moisture requirements, unique adaptations of wildflowers, woodland pollinators, and the benefit of using natives in your yard. On April 25, I had the pleasure of hosting a tour for Wild Ones but as I anticipated, this tour turned out to be different than my usual public tours. Wild Ones added their knowledge and experience of wildflowers and even gave suggestions for improving the site. And a few members even offered plants from their own garden. Thank you, Wild Ones, for a great morning!

Thank you, Anita, for hosting the April 2026 Let’s Get Dirty on the 30’s Yard Tour.
